Mr Sam (James) Patton

Sam Patton was appointed to the staff at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and the Murrayfield Hospital in 2003. He is a specialist hip and knee surgeon with particular expertise in difficult joint replacement surgery, and musculoskeletal oncology surgery.

Sam Patton trained on the Stryker Mako robotic arm technology in both Australia and Germany. Using the robotic arm for joint replacement surgery allows him to personalise every operation to suit each of his patients, and to make alterations mid-operation that couldn’t be made using previous surgical methods.
